We’d planned to spend the day at home, hoping to make the most of the pool — especially since Mark had found a skimmer and was determined to bring it back to life. But after half an hour of valiant scooping (and very little visible improvement), it became clear the filter system wasn’t doing much of anything. Another message was sent to the host, who assured us someone would be out to take a look. Rather than wait around, we made a lunch booking at an old favourite — True Food Kitchen in Kierland Commons — and headed off.
As always, True Food didn’t disappoint. Sophia declared it the best meal of the trip and came dangerously close to licking her plate clean.

After lunch, we wandered the shops for a bit (still no update about the pool) and made a few practical stops — Walmart, Target, and a quick haircut for Mark — before heading back to the house.
Unfortunately, things at the house hadn’t improved. The pool was still murky and now featured a bonus dead lizard. The kids carried on with their ice challenge while Mark decided enough was enough. After a few rounds of back-and-forth with the host’s concierge and Airbnb, we officially pulled the plug on the rest of our stay at that property.
Thankfully, we had a special evening planned — a belated 20th wedding anniversary dinner at Different Pointe of View. Determined not to let the day’s frustrations linger, we dressed up, left the chaos behind, and headed out.
The views from the mountaintop restaurant were absolutely stunning. We kicked things off with a celebratory glass of bubbles on the terrace before being seated at a window table that made the most of the scenery. Things started smoothly with sparkling water, a bottle of Veuve, and our orders taken. We were relaxing into the evening, admiring the view… when our entrées arrived — before the promised bread. Still, they were beautifully presented and tasted exceptional, so we didn’t mind too much. The bread eventually made its appearance.

My seabass was perfection — fresh, flaky, and full of flavour — but Mark wasn’t so lucky. His New York strip steak turned out to be a gristly, fatty letdown, and at US$60, that’s not something you just let go. To their credit, the restaurant refunded the steak and comped us each an extra glass of wine, so all in all it was still a lovely evening out.
