We woke to another foggy day in town but out at the lake it was a beautiful day and racing got underway on time. Meanwhile, Sophia and her crew were back at the motels keeping themselves entertained and relaxed by cutting Ellie’s (their coxswain) hair, with a pair of kitchen scissors ?.

The first race for our girls was the novice coxed eight for Greer and what a race. The girls were ecstatic to come away with a 3rd place and bronze medal in 7:17:94.

This was closely followed by the u15 coxed 4 for Greer and they placed 8th in 8:07:38. She said she was a bit disappointed in it but we are super proud of her – 8th in NZ is amazing.
After a spot of lunch in the supporters tent, it was onto the next race.

Sophia had her u16 coxed eight and they smashed it. They led from the start to take out the gold in 6:56:69.

It is an emotional rollercoaster watching these races as parents so a wee pick me up was needed. The Podium Bar here is fantastic – something we could do with in Twizel!

Once racing was finished for the day we headed back to get ready for the annual Parents and Coaches dinner at Onyx Restaurant. Another fun night but the liver is probably in need of a bit of detoxing!
