Everyone slept in this morning and then we told the kids we were taking a mini break from our vacation and going to stay at the Hard Rock Hotel at Universal. The way the “fast pass/VIP” works at Universal is it worked out cheaper for us to stay at the hotel (where you are eligible for their VIP/front of line passes and early entry than buying 5 VIP passes (kind of crazy!). So everyone packed up a few clothes for a few days and I tidied everything up and did some washing.
The maintenance guy turned up as we had a problem with the oven door locking and being unable to use it and also the aircon/heating was playing up. They were incredibly efficient and turned up within 20 minutes of us emailing them.
We headed to the Hard Rock Hotel and checked in, although the room wasn’t ready. The place is full of bogans but kind of cool, lots of memorabilia and they had a DJ pumping out the tunes at reception. We went for a walk to the park to check out how long it would take in the morning and then had a look around Citywalk, which is mainly bars and restaurants.
Mark, TJ and Sophia tried out the Voodoo Doughnuts and Greer had a Coldstone ice cream.
When our room was ready we went back to the hotel and had a rest before heading to Whole Foods for dinner. The kids measured themselves on the mirror against the heights of celebrities. Greer is the same height as Lady Gaga, Sophia as Madonna and TJ as Bob Marley.
