Day 34 – Magic Kingdom

A slow start with Space Mountain booked for 10:45am so we caught up on some sleep, washing and Mark got a bit of work done.

We arrived at Magic Kingdom but it is a bit of a rigmarole getting into the actual park – you have to get a tram ride from the car and then the monorail, but once we made it we went straight to Space Mountain – everyone was a bit disappointed- clearly we have been spoilt by Cosmic Rewind – and no interest in doing it again so ?.

Greer had been wanting a Mickey popcorn bucket so we finally found someone selling them. You have to buy the bucket and then get cheap refills the rest of your trip. Greer and I waited in line to see Cinderella and Princess Elena while the others waited for us and tried to lift Excalibur’s sword from the bronze anvil but with no success.

Lunch at the Harbour House, we rode the teacups, watched the end of a show and then spent some time finding the various characters around Magic Kingdom. The Magic Bands we have to get us onto rides etc also have a built in play feature such that when you see certain Disney character statues around the parks, the band buzzes, you wave your arm a bit and it unlocks a character on the Disney Play App – at least that is how it is supposed to work but in practice it can take a lot of arm waving and walking back and forth to get them to unlock. You see people all over the place waving their arms around in front of statues getting frustrated ?. We had collected them all at the previous lands so Magic Kingdom was the last we had to do.

Into Frontierland and onto Splash Mountain which is being closed and completely changed in another week or so. It was a nice day so getting wet didn’t seem so bad and we had a lightning lane pass. It was a typical log flume ride but enjoyable for all.

Greer got a refill of her popcorn and we watched the parade for a while before deciding to ride the Walt Disney World Railway, although there wasn’t a lot to see. We got the monorail and tram back to the car park before heading back to the Outlets we were at yesterday to finish them off

Once home we watched the movie Good Night Oppy, to ready ourselves for our trip to Kennedy Space Centre tomorrow. The movie follows Opportunity, a Mars exploration rover, dubbed Oppy by her creators at NASA, on her mission to Mars.
