We got up early this morning and set off to check out a few old local haunts we still had not seen. First stop was Little Trotters where TJ and Sophia (very briefly) attended preschool when we lived here. Next was Chrissie Tomlinson Memorial Hospital where all three of the kids were born. Finally we went to our first house in Cayman, prekids.

Queen Elizabeth II Botanical Gardens was next on the list, where we wandered the trails looking for iguanas. Last time we were there, when the kids were little, we saw some really big blue ones roaming free, but the area we had seen them has now been replaced by a playground and splash pad for kids. As such, it is a lot harder to find them roaming free as there are no real large open spaces. They breed the native blue ones there and while we only saw a few roaming in the wild they had loads in their breeding cages. They were close to extinction a few decades ago so it is good to see they have been successful in this programme. We also saw a grass snake, which the kids were not happy about, and some Cayman parrots.

On our way to Cayman Kai for lunch we stopped at another old favorite, Rum Point. It used to be incredibly popular and a beautiful swimming spot but since Covid, it closed down and has not fully reopened yet. We had a walk out on the dock and a look around – it is still beautiful but a shame it isn’t fully operational.

We had lunch booked at Kaibo on the beach, another gorgeous spot just around the road from Rum Point. I enjoyed a mudslide and we all had burgers which were really good, especially the jerk pulled pork. Mark and Greer had a swim before we headed back to the apartment.

TJ and Sophia hadn’t been feeling 100% so they had a rest and watched the NFL with Mark while Greer and I went down to the pool for a few hours.

Later it was time to pack bags, do some washing and tidy the apartment before an early night.
