Day 17 – The Edge, Shopping and Dinner with Friends

We had a slow start this morning as the constant go go go has tired everyone out. We headed to the Hudson Yards to the Edge experience. The Hudson Yards were beautifully decorated. Despite having timed tickets, the line was huge and very very slow moving. We eventually made it to the top only to discover when heading outside that all the glass barriers had condensation on them and you couldn’t see out of them. We sat on the outside steps (which enable you to see over the glass barriers below) and Mark tried taking some video with his selfie stick contraption on extension but was quickly told off. We got some photos inside but didn’t spend a lot of time up there as it seemed kind of pointless.

We got something to eat at Ana’s, a cafe at Hudson Yards and then headed outside to look at the Vessel. Unfortunately, it is no longer open to climb due to the number of suicides from it which is a shame as it is a really cool piece of artwork.

Back to the Hudson Yard Shops for an afternoon of shopping before heading home.

Mark went back to Radio City Music Hall to try and change the Rockettes jacket Greer had got the other night as we realised they gave us the wrong one, but they were sold out which is probably how we ended up with the wrong one, but she was still happy.

TJ managed to get a splinter from the floor in the hotel room … what a drama. Mark tried getting it out with the tweezers he had but couldn’t get it all so had to go to reception to ask for a needle. He came back with tweezers, antiseptic, bandaids, wound cleansers and someone eventually brought up a needle. As you can see from the photos,Mark was quite enjoying himself. He had employed Sophia to hold the phone as a torch and I was having my hand squeezed by TJ. TJ by this stage was insisting he would be in less pain if he had his toe amputated. Needless to say, Mark quickly got the splinter out and all was right with the world again!

We left the kids in the hotel room and Mark and I headed out to Bar Primi with my friend Dara and her partner Vlad. I did a lot of work with Dara while we lived in Cayman as she was based at one of my New York clients at the time. We have kept in touch ever since so it was really good to catch up in person again. We had a delicious meal, perfect company with adult conversations which made for a great night.
