We got up early and walked to the Philadelphia Museum of Art to see the Rocky statute and do the run up the steps as is famous from the Rocky movie. The weather still wasn’t great but we got it done. We headed to Whole Foods for breakfast before catching an Uber to the train station.

It was a direct 1.25 hour train ride into New York’s Penn Station. It was drizzling in New York when we arrived so we caught Ubers to the hotel. We couldn’t check into our rooms so wrapped up warm and went for a walk down 5th Avenue to the Rockerfeller Centre calling into various shops along the way to get out of the cold.

We saw the Christmas Tree at Rockerfeller Center and then got something to eat at Starbucks. When we came back out there were snow flurries which was quite exciting.

I had an appointment at Trinny London at Saks to get my makeup done and get a color match done at 3pm so I headed to do that while Mark took the kids to a few more stores before coming to meet me.

We got a call from the hotel to say our room was ready so headed back, collected our bags and headed to our rooms. It is a really nice hotel and quite spacious. We have two rooms next to each other so plenty of room for us all.

After a wee rest we headed back to Penn Station to catch a train to the Prudential Centre in New Jersey for the ice hockey: New Jersey Devils vs our team (well more accurately Mark, TJ and Sophia’s team), the Boston Bruins. The walk from the train station to the stadium was freezing – the temperature was -9°c but a feels like temperature of -20°c with wind chill. It was not at all pleasant. The security was not well organized either so too long a wait outside trying to get in.

We managed to get to our seats in time for the entertainment to start. The Devils put points on the board first but the Bruins quickly fought back and were 4-1 up half way through the second period. In the third and final period, the Devils fought back which made an exciting game and it ended 4-3 to the Bruins. It was a fast game and definitely much better to watch live than on TV.

We headed back to New York on the train and decided to just walk the 20 mins back to the hotel rather than catch an Uber as the wait was quite long and everyone was happy to walk, despite the cold.
