This morning once we got sorted we headed to the Melbourne Museum. First stop was the cafe for a bite to eat then we checked out the exhibits about the indigenous people, the special exhibition on the triceratops, insects and the local Melbourne section including seeing Phar Lap. Then it was time for The IMAX show “Dinosaurs in Antarctica” before finally locating Charlene and Scott’s replica wedding cake from “Neighbours”

We drove across to the Melbourne Skydeck at Eureka and started with the VR experience voyager which takes you virtually around Melbourne. Next it was the elevator 88 floors to the observation deck (the quickest elevator in the Southern Hemisphere according to the guide). We took a few photos before taking the buzzer went off to say it was our time for the “Edge”, a transparent glass cube that projects you out from Melbourne Skydeck, leaving you suspended nearly 300 metres above the streets of Melbourne. The box is enclosed in glass (top, sides and bottom), poor TJ despite doing it was not particularly impressed ?.

Time for a drink after all that excitement to settle the nerves ??. Mark, Sophia and Greer then did the plank VR experience where you feel like you are walking a think plank 285m about the city … it was computer graphics though so not particularly realistic.

We had promised the kids they could go to a 7 eleven before we left to get a slurpee, so having seen one in the corner, that was the next stop. Three very happy kids later we headed back to the hotel (personally I couldn’t see the appeal of the slurpee ? … so sweet!)

The kids tried out their cookie dough and then Mark and I left the kids at the hotel and headed into town for a bit of last minute shopping before we all went to dinner at Da Guido 365, an Italian restaurant not far from the hotel. The food was delicious and enjoyed by all (esp the Nutella pizza Sophia had for dessert!) … a perfect way to spend the last night of our holiday.
