Day 22 – Sydney and Home

Today would be a long day. We finished getting everything packed up and the apartment tidied up before maneuvering our numerous bags (and yes we did have to buy another one or maybe two ?) into taxis and out to JFK.

We had a quick stop in Los Angeles before heading home via Sydney. We arrived in Sydney early in the morning and rather than spending the next 12 hours at Sydney airport, we left our bags behind (they were checked all the way through), cleared customs, hired a car and decided to go to Taronga Zoo for the day. It was a gorgeous day but first stop was a bite to eat down at Circular Quay and checking out the Opera House before catching a boat across the harbour (taking in the Harbour Bridge and Opera House) to the zoo.

We spent a good few hours at the zoo seeing all the animals and we all loved seeing the elephants in particular. A baby elephant, Jai Dee was only 16 weeks old when we went.

We headed back to the airport exhausted and ready to get home. We had the late night flight arriving in at 1:15am so it had been a very long day and we were all happy to see our own beds by the end of it.
