This morning we headed the The American Museum of Natural History via Washington Square. At the Natural History our first stop was the Rose Centre for Earth and Space where we saw the 15.5-ton Willamette Meteorite and media displays that highlight topics in astronomy and astrophysics. The Hayden Big Bang Theatre was next. Here you look down into a concave screen to view the Big Bang presentation, a dynamic flight through the virtual universe based on an accurate cosmic atlas mapped using millions of astronomical observations – TJ was not at all impressed with this and after much coaxing still wouldn’t go in so I stayed out with him while the others went and watched it.

After that, we headed to the mammal halls and fossil halls for the dinosaurs. The kids had enough after that so we went out and into Central Park and into the Belvedere Castle which sits in the middle of the park. Some great views from the top of it. We then wandered back past the Lake, The Angel of the Waters Sculpture in the Bethesda Fountain (a scene from lots of famous movies) and the Bethesda Terrace. Sophia managed to find a man with a snake so held that. The Mall was next and then the Balto Statute (a sculpture of the lead sled dog that raced to deliver medicine saving Alaska’s children from diphtheria).

We took the kids to Whole Foods for some dinner and Miss Jovie, their Nanny from Cayman days came to babysit them, while we went to The Grammacy Park Tavern with Dara and Vlad. I used to do a lot of work with Dara when we worked in Cayman (she was always based in New York but worked for one of my big clients.
