Day 16 – The Girls do NYC Alone – Part I

This morning, the boys left for their trip to New Orleans (but see the separate post about that …coming soon …).

The girls and I saw it as the perfect opportunity to get some major shopping in. We went to Zara and Gap and then landed at the Rockefeller Centre for a photo opportunity, all whilst passing a film being made (not sure which one though), and then it was to American Girl.

The girls had both brought their dolls with them and we had appointments to get their hair done and ears pierced (dolls not girls). Two happy girls and a huge bag of accessories later we left and headed to Magnolia Bakery for a delicious cupcake each. Yum!

Later it was back to American Girl for our afternoon tea booking – there was loads of food and all a bit much for us but a fun experience none the less.

We went back to the hotel for a wee rest (for me at least!) before catching a cab to meet my friend Dara (whom I used to work with when we were in Cayman (she was always in NY)) and her daughter Veronika. They took us to the Sugar Factory – talk about sugar overload! – but the girls loved it and it was so lovely to catch up with Dara.
